It’s Not Just About Llamas

Calling All Debian/Ubuntu Hackers

I bet that raised a few eyebrows on Fedora Planet :) Don’t worry Fedora, I still love you the most.

With recent patches submitted to Cobbler’s devel branch, I think it is getting sufficiently close to being able to replace Debian FAI. There’s still a bit more work to be done to make it work as strongly as it does for Fedora-based systems — some integration with apt mirroring (for updates) would be nice, but is not critical. I’d really love to see koan made to work over there for both physical machines and virtual installs — which shouldn’t be that hard. Foremost, I’d really like someone to package it and maintain it in the Debian tree.

If anyone is interested in this (especially stepping up be the maintainer — we’ll build a statue in your honor, I promise), join the Cobbler list and say hi.
