I just reinstalled and kept /home and things are much happier. Only minor annoyances, such as the package notification window not having a scrollbar and being all off the side of the scren, and a package updater that doesn’t show status.
Blowing away everything and just keeping /home is a much better way to upgrade.
So far so good!
Network Manager also seems to work now, which is great. Keymaps work too!
